Color Crush

Coming to Play Store

Mix paint the way paint actually mixes.

Android · Free · No ads

Ask almost any colour picker to mix yellow and blue and it will hand you a muddy grey. Ask a five-year-old with a paintbrush and they will hand you green. The child is right, and the software is wrong.

Color Crush is a mixing app for kids, students and anyone who paints, built so the answers match the paint. Add up to five parts from eight base colours, watch the swatch settle, and get the closest real colour name back — from a dictionary of nearly five thousand of them.

Why most apps get it wrong

Screens make colour by adding light together. Paint makes colour by taking light away — yellow pigment absorbs blue light, blue pigment absorbs red, and what little escapes is green. Average the two on a screen and you get the grey nobody asked for.

Color Crush models the absorption rather than the averaging, so the result behaves like the thing on the paper in front of you.

Built to be kind

No internet permission

Color Crush does not request Android's INTERNET permission at all, so it is technically incapable of sending anything anywhere. Everything happens on the device.

No ads, no purchases

No advertising SDKs, no analytics, no trackers, nothing to unlock and nothing to subscribe to. There is no account, so there is nothing to sign up for.

Your colours stay yours

Colours you name and save are written to the device and read back on the next launch. They never leave it, and uninstalling takes them with it.

Built to be played with

Mix up to five parts at a time, clear it in one tap, and start again. There is no wrong answer and nothing to lose — the point is to see what happens.

Free forever

Color Crush is coming to the Play Store. No ads, no purchases, nothing to sign up for — then or ever.
